Annie is a little orphan girl who comes to live at Carriage Hill in West Brattleboro, Vermont. Johnny, her father, is enticed by the FBI into giving help to an agent. Annie is Johnny's reward for doing this. Over the next few months he is lied to and manipulated. The first promise of happiness turns sour and he has to keep searching, but Annie is there for him.
